The Bow Valley Eco Hub
Welcome to the Bow Valley Eco Hub, a digital center for the conservation and growth of the Bow Valley. This place hopes to support actions that aim for a thriving Bow Valley.
The Bow Valley is a valley located along the upper Bow River in Alberta, Canada. Following the Trans Canada Higway, the bow valley runs from the Kanaskis area all the way to Lake Louise while crossing through several communiities such as Banff, Canmore and hamlets such as Dead Man’s Flats, Exshaw, Lac des Arcs and Harvie Heights.
Located on the east side of the canadian rockies and running through a network of national and provincial parks, the Bow Valley is truly a special area that its culturally diverse residents care to protect and maintain.
The Bow Valley Eco Hub is here to act as a center for residents, visitors, and anybody interested to find out about all the actions that are being undertaken to care for our Bow Valley. From grassroot organizations to big corporations, we aim to be a place where anyone can share their actions and ideas within the Bow Valley.
The Bow Valley in located within the Treaty 7 Region of Southern Alberta. In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge the traditional territory of the Stoney Nakoda, which is comprised of the Bearspaw First Nation, Chiniki First Nation, and Goodstoney First Nation – as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation and the Blackfoot Confederacy comprised of the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai. We also acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. In addition, the Bow Valley has also long been important to the Ktunaxa and Secwépemc First Nations who traditionally occupied lands and used the watersheds of the Columbia and Kootenay Rivers and the eastern slopes of the Rockies. The area was also used by the Mountain Cree clan of Chief Peechee, and the Dene of the far north and far south. All who live, work and play here - and whose histories, languages, and cultures continue to enrich our vibrant community - celebrate and steward the land.
